She Noted is a growing resource to inform, engage and inspire…
Since May 2017, I’ve tended to She Noted: A people, places and stories blog devoted to the arts, historic houses and material culture – especially as it concerns the lives of women.
At the heart of She Noted is a passion for storytelling, heritage and how we can engage with all manner of histories. Having been raised on National Trust and English Heritage properties, I also use the platform to chart my adventures around the UK.
Through this channel, I’ve been able to connect and network with historians, writers and museum staff and, in 2018, formed a valuable partnership with Pen & Sword books, reviewing their historic titles.
On She Noted, you’ll find historical articles and interest pieces, with additional content on literature, vintage and antiques. The research and writing are done by myself, having graduated in The History of Art with English Literature.
Through my studies, I’ve gained valuable insight into gallery, museum and archival opportunities – with hands on experience at institutional libraries, the Royal Collection at Windsor, West Wycombe’s acquisitions and the Ashmolean’s own print archive.
In the local community, I’ve given talks to WI groups – most recently on Porcelain Consumption in England in the 17th – 18th Centuries and another on Dutch Dollhouse Culture in 17th Century Amsterdam. In my own time, I have been working towards the completion of my masters in the Country House.
It’s a pleasure belonging to a community of history bloggers and growing She Noted’s channels and influence. It’s so lovely to have you join me!

The ever-so-talented Jenny Nixie Dale (a rather dear friend) designed all the wonderful little illustrations you see throughout this site…
Pen & Sword kindly give She Noted titles of interest to review and share with fellow readers.
